The Harvey Wall-banger

Lets hear it for Harvey ! Wall-banger that is... Happy Thirsty Thursday everyone.
Here's a retro cocktail blast from my past.
~The Harvey Wall-banger~
one ounce vodka
four ounces orange juice
...1/2 ounce of Galliano
Pour vodka and orange juice into a Collins glass filled with ice. Stir, and then float the Galiano over the top. ”Floating” is also known as “layering” and works like this: pour Galliano into the drink over the back of a bar spoon so as to keep it at the top on its own separate layer (so obviously don’t stir the drink once the Galliano is present). It will remain separate from the rest of the drink because of the difference in density and sugar content.

Bottoms up !

"Ghosts"

by Fannie Stearns Davis

I am almost afraid of the wind out there. The dead leaves skip on the porches bare, The windows clatter and whine. I sit here in the quiet house. low-lit. With the clock that ticks and the books that stand. Wise and silent, on every hand.

I am almost afraid; though I know the night Lets no ghosts walk in the warm lamplight. Yet ghosts there are; and they blow, they blow, Out in the wind and the scattering snow.- When I open the windows and go to bed, Will the ghosts come In and stand at my head?

Last night I dreamed they came back again. I heard them talking; I saw them plain. They hugged me and held me and loved me; spoke Of happy doings and friendly folk. They seemed to have journeyed a week away, but now they were ready and glad to stay.

But, oh, if they came on the wind to-night Could I bear their faces, their garments white Blown in the dark around my lonely bed? Oh, could I forgive them for being dead? I am almost afraid of the wind. My shame! That I would not be glad if my dear ones came!

The best joke, Bar nun !

John was sitting outside his local pub one day, enjoying a quiet pint and generally feeling good about himself, when a nun suddenly appears at his table and starts decrying the evils of drink. "You should be ashamed of yourself young man! Drinking is a Sin! Alcohol is the blood of the devil!" Now John gets pretty annoyed about this, and goes on the offensive. "How do you know this, Sister?" "My Mother Superior told me so." "But have you ever had a drink yourself? How can you be sure that what you are saying is right?" "Don't be ridiculous--of course I have never taken alcohol myself" "Then let me buy you a drink - if you still believe afterwards that it is evil I will give up drink for life" "How could I, a Nun, sit outside this public house drinking?!" "I'll get the barman to put it in a teacup for you, then no one will ever know." The Nun reluctantly agrees, so John goes inside to the bar. "Another pint for me, and a triple vodka on the rocks", then he lowers his voice and says to the barman "and could you put the vodka in a teacup?" "Oh no! It's not that Nun again is it?"
